Museums Australia ACT Branch is active in the national museum sector.

The ACT Branch aims to keep its members informed and engaged with their profession and association, it has active events program and provides opportunities to meet and mingle with peers and fellow professionals.

The ACT Branch is hosting the MA national conference in May 2013 – Canberra’s centenary year, so there is important and exciting work to be done!

Canberra is a particularly important place for museums and the cultural sector:

• it hosts many national institutions as well as smaller local museums
• has University collections and historic houses
• has the most museum professionals working in close proximity of each other in the country
• is home of the Museums Australia National Office,
• is located and with the Parliament and the public sector making for a vital and important workforce.

Become nvolved in your Museums Australia committee! Consider nominating, or if you know someone who you think would love to work on a small energetic committee, then talk to them and nominate them for a position (with their agreement of course).

All office-bearer positions as well as general committee members are open for filling for a term of two years 2012-2014. Offcier bearering positions are:

• President
• Vice President
• Secretary
• Treasurer

Being a committee member is not an onerous task. A philosophy of sharing the load and working together makes for a fulfilling and satisfying time for all members. Committee meetings are held monthly at lunchtime and your input will be appreciated.
