Museum Leadership Program
Running in 2012
The Council of Australasian Museum Directors and Museums Australia are partners in an Australian National Data Service (ANDS) funded project that will be based at, and administered by, the Powerhouse Museum.
The primary aim of this project is to establish and populate a Metadata Exchange with Collection Level Descriptions of cultural and historical collections conforming to the Registry Interchange Format - Collections and Services schema guidelines (RIF-CS schema) for delivery into the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC).
The project will run from 1 September 2010 to 31 August 2011. This project aims to greatly improve the access to and the usability of museum collections for Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) researchers using the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC).
The project will establish new infrastructure and promote new practices of benefit to both researchers and the museums, and even more importantly, provides a space to increase research collaborations between them.
The Museum Metadata Exchange (MME) project has established a website which provides up to date information on the progress of the project.
The project has a steering committee to provide governance and strong cross-community leadership. The steering committee members are prominent and provide high level involvement which is key to the success of the project.
