Museum Historians' National Network

The Museum Historians' National Network (formerly Special Interest Group) provides an information and support network for museum historians working throughout Australia. It organises sessions at the Museums Australia National Conference each year, and special events such as tours and talks.

Among other activities every year are:
    • Sponsorship of the  Global Curator program
    • A bursary program for the annual Museums Australia conference
    • An AGM
The Museum Historians' National Network also issues a periodic newsletter, Timelines, keeping members up-to-date with new museum exhibitions, research projects and special events.

Global Curator Program 2011

Would you like a chance to go to Houston, USA in May to attend the American Association Annual Meeting? This event is one of the largest museum gatherings in the world, featuring hundreds of papers, worshops and a huge trade show. It’s a great opportunity for international networking and exchanging the latest ideas in the museum industry.

The Historians’ National Network of Museums Australia and the Curators’ Committee of the American Association of Museums are pleased to jointly announce the launch of the 2011 Global Curator Exchange Fellowship Program.

This program is open to one curator from Australia and one from the United States. Each will be awarded a stipend of approximately $2700 to attend the other’s national conference.

The Australian curator will attend the American Association of Museums Annual Meeting in Houston, Texas, 22-25 May 2011.

The US curator will attend the Museums Australia conference in Perth, Western Australia, 14-18 November 2011. Support for the 2011 Australian leg of the Global Curator program is generously provided by ICOM Australia.
