YIWARRA KUJU: THE CANNING STOCK ROUTE
A Museums Australia NSW Tour and Talk in association with the Australian Museum
Wednesday 7 March 2012 4pm
Jimmy Smith will give an Aboriginal perspective as he leads us on a tour of Yiwarra Kuju: the Canning Stock Route exhibition at the Australian Museum.
The exhibition has more than 120 contemporary paintings, cultural objects and new media work which reclaim the untold Aboriginal history of the Canning Stock Route - the world’s longest stock route through the deserts of Western Australia. It was developed by the National Museum of Australia in partnership with FORM, an independent arts organisation based in Perth, in collaboration with artists, traditional custodians and emerging Aboriginal curators and filmmakers and is supported by the National Collecting Institution Touring and Outreach Program.
