New England and North West Chapter

The New England/North West Chapter held its inaugural meeting in 1997 (formerly called Tablelands and Western Plains).  The Chapter covers one of the largest regions in New South Wales.  This region stretches from as far South as Quirindi, North as Tenterfield, West as Moree and East as Ebor.  Chapter gatherings are held 2-3 times a year and run for a full day.  Typically the day comprises a meeting and then workshop on a theme chosen following discussion with the host institution.

Thematically most museums in the Chapter are social history museums and many reflect the character of their local environment.  Many place an emphasis on an aspect of their local history such as mining, the pastoral industry, or the Chinese presence.  Others tend to reflect the interests of local collectors such as transport and rural museums.
