Employment in the museum and gallery sector has become increasingly competitive and tertiary qualifications are often listed as an essential requirement. But are these degrees worth it?

Join the Emerging Professionals network and a dynamic panel of industry leaders and experts as we explore questions around the value and place of tertiary qualifications in museums and galleries, including: why do employers ask for tertiary qualifications? How and which jobs have changed so as now to require a degree? Is this the same for all areas in museums and galleries? What skills do these qualifications confer and can these be learnt otherwise? And most significantly, are tertiary qualifications a guaranteed entry into the sector?
