Personalise your MA experience!
Step 1: If you aren't already a member, sign up as a webfriend or Join Now.
Step 2: Sign up for some Interest Groups. These will deliver filtered and relevant information, events, and news, direct to your Member Portal, and help us to target communications for a more personalised MA experience.
Step 3: Make sure your Member Portal is up to date with your contact details, employment info, member bio (opt in/out) and communication preferences.
Step 4: Sign in each time you visit so you see your Interest Groups and relevent events and news.
Webfriends are registered users of the site that don't have an active MA membership yet. You will be able to select Interest Groups and view some selected content, but not Members Only resources. You will also be included in some of our e-communications.
You must have at least a webfriend account to post Positions Vacant.
The sign up is easy - simply click on Login up the top of the page and register.
You can purchase your MA membership before or after you have signed up as a webfriend. Just Join MA and follow the prompts.
Once you've purchased your membership, you will have access to additional areas of the Member Portal, you'll be asked to complete your Declaration and input more details about youself. You will also be able to purchase National Networks and view Members Only content on the site.
National Networks are pay-to-join special interest groups which offer members special access to Network events, bursaries, communications and other activites based around a particular field of interest, i.e. Emerging Museum and Gallery Professionals.
Once you have become a member, you can purchase National Networks. Each has a small annual fee and is due for renewal each year. You can manage your Network subsciptions from your Member Portal.
Once you have joined your Network/s (join as many as you like!) you can volunteer for a committee, contribute to their newsletters, apply for a bursary and much more. Keep an eye out on their page and look out for e-bulletins.
Interest groups are different from National Networks (see above). All the content on this website is tagged and when you sign up to an interest group your website experience will be customised to match your selections.
You can join as many as you like, it costs nothing, and will help to personalise your time on the MA website. Interest group content shows up in your Member Portal and will help us to target communications.
Your Member Portal will become available when you Login. Here you can complete your personal details, view your current membership status, renew your membership, view past invoices for membership and other purchased, view saved resources or event resources, and edit your communication preferences.
You can also opt in/out for the member to member directory and see selected details of other MA members.
The the near future the CPD (continuing professional development) section will be available for you to log your PD and MA events you register for will be automatically added and attributed points. Get points, reach CPD levels, earn badges.
We urge you to complete the Additional Profile Information and Personal Details.
You can access the list of members who have opted in to making their contact details visible through the Member List link in your Member Portal.
There are many resources on the MA site and many more to come. Resources include newsletters, magazines, tool and templates, conference papers, factsheets, and much more.
Relevant resources will be linked at the bottom of pages throughout the site. You can also search the Resources by type.
To post a Position Vacant you need to first sign in. Click Login on the top menu and create an account if you haven't already joined or your organisation isn't an MA member.
Go to the Careers Centre and post a job ad. Fill in all the fields, click to save and you will be given payment options. Yes, we are very happy to invoice, just select the option.
