An exciting opportunity to manage our Art and Heritage collection, our Flemington Heritage Centre, and to curate world-class exhibitions. This role gives you an outstanding opportunity to consolidate your curatorial, logistics and customer-centric design experience to deliver quality outcomes for the organisation, and the general public. 

In your role you will:
- Manage storage, display, access, handling and transport of the Art and Heritage collection and other significant material entrusted to the VRC
- Manage and promote the Flemington Heritage Centre and guided tour program, including the tour guides and bookings
- Evaluate, program and update the Conservation Management Plan for collection items
- Perform all required collection management, including database management and recording of new acquisitions, and ensure all required legal documentation is in place
- Actively research and prepare acquisition reports to develop the collection
- Provide greater access to VRC collections and records through the digitisation and commercialisation of collection resources
- Assist with enquiries from the media, members, general public, researchers and relevant institutions
- Research, coordinate and deliver the Flemington Racecourse exhibition program at over 33 locations including the Flemington Heritage Centre
- Research, develop and coordinate exhibitions and/or artwork displays at external and temporary location e.g. sponsor venues, marquee sites, museums, galleries etc.
- Prepare marketing collateral and exhibition signage for exhibitions with both internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Identify and pursue opportunities to increase the heritage brand value across the VRC i.e. for anniversary celebrations Foster and support positive working relationships with artists, commercial galleries, auction houses, valuers, lenders and donors

You will have:
- A passion for delivering quality exhibitions and experiences that reflect the VRC brand
- A postgraduate qualification in Museum Studies, Art Curatorship or Public History
- Minimum 5 years' work in a similar capacity in a Museum, Gallery or Corporate Art Collection - with demonstrated experience curating displays and art collections
- Sound knowledge of Australian art, history and culture
- Specialist knowledge of thoroughbred racing will be highly regarded
- Able to operate and maintain DB Textworks (or similar) cataloguing database
- Experience in object loans, donations, acquisition procedures, collection valuation, insurance, transport and museum practices and principles - including object handling and preventative conservation
- A sound knowledge of copyright requirements and responsibilities
- Able to work independently, develop and initiate viable projects
- Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- A great idea for detail and ability to manage your time effectively
- Excellent computer literacy, presentation and communication skills
- A calm and methodical manner
